Aerial farm photographer John Herriott has photographed farms for over 10 years
A chief flying instructor once remarked that the speed of my dead rekoning / map reading skills were far better than any of his instructor pilots - including himself. This is particularly useful in farm photography when flying over unfamiliar countryside as it eases the pilots workload, getting the job done quicker and in a more cost effective way.

Farms can be notoriously difficult to find if located in areas with few surrounding landmarks. Auctioneers eventually contact me following frustration with other's attempts eg. not all the farm being included or even worse, returning with photographs of someone else's farm. Time taken is of utmost importance as air time is not cheap. Navigation to a location under VFR conditions is the photographers job, the pilot will take care of the home leg of the journey. Successful aerial shoots are as a result of careful planning.
Below are samples of some of the farms photographed for clients over the years. Occasionally property owners prefer to contact me directly and then supply the images to their selling agent, or maybe they just want a photograph for their own records or even as a gift etc.
When deciding on getting your property aerial photographed please consider the time of year.
End of May to start of June being best for Dairying / Drystock holdings or in August for tillage either just
before or during harvest. As these are your busiest times you are unlikely to have time to think about this so please book early ( bookings taken up to 6 months in advance ) and I will aerial photograph your property in good weather to show your land at it's best.
