Ardmore round tower. Romanesque architecture.

Aerial photo of Ardmore round tower and church ruins. The church dates from the 12th
century built in the romanesque style, the tower pre dates this and could be as old as the
10th century. A smaller church on the site, Saint Declan's oratory is older still and may
have been built in the 8th century. This is where Saint Declan is reputed to be buried.
There are some fine stone carvings over the Romanesque arches on the larger church.
